Terms of Service
Version 2026-10-v1 / Updated October 2026
These terms explain how DRIV3 accounts work, what happens to a vehicle's history when the car is sold, and the limits of the forecasts and scores we show you.
1. What DRIV3 does
DRIV3 is a vehicle record platform. It lets a keeper maintain a living history for each vehicle they hold: servicing, MOTs, maintenance, mileage, running costs and documents.
Recording history is free. An optional PLAN subscription adds rule-based maintenance forecasts and a monthly digest email. A Vehicle Passport lets a keeper share the record with a prospective buyer, who pays to unlock it. Anyone can search a registration and buy a lite passport where the keeper has chosen to list the vehicle.
By creating an account or using DRIV3 you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
2. Vehicle records and transferable history
A vehicle record belongs to the vehicle, not to you personally. Service events, mileage readings, costs and dates stay with the vehicle across changes of keeper.
- When you transfer a vehicle to a new keeper, its timeline, mileage history and maintenance record transfer with it.
- Your V5C, private documents, purchase price, notes and account details never transfer.
- Once a vehicle leaves your garage you keep read access to the history recorded during your ownership, but you can no longer change it.
3. Documents, the V5C and automated reading
You can upload service invoices, MOT certificates and other documents, and each vehicle has its own inbound email address so garages and suppliers can send invoices straight in. Documents are read automatically to suggest a date, mileage, cost and supplier.
You can also upload the vehicle's V5C. It is read automatically to suggest vehicle details and the number of previous registered keepers. Nothing is saved to the vehicle until you check and confirm it. Your V5C is visible only to you and our support team; it never appears in a Vehicle Passport and never passes to another keeper.
Automated reading is an assistant, not an accountant. Nothing enters your history until you review and approve it, and you are responsible for checking the details are correct.
4. Verified status
A vehicle shows as Verified only when its current keeper has uploaded a V5C and confirmed the vehicle details from it. Verified status is removed if that V5C is deleted or the vehicle moves to a new keeper, who can verify it again with their own V5C.
Verified means a V5C was supplied to DRIV3. It is not a check with the DVLA and does not confirm legal ownership, outstanding finance, write-off status or theft markers.
5. Forecasts, the monthly digest and the health score are estimates
Forecasts show work as Booked (you have confirmed a booking), Planned (a recurring item you have entered but not booked) or Likely (projected from the vehicle's history). Cost figures are ranges.
Forecasts, the monthly digest and the Vehicle Record & Maintenance Health score are calculated by fixed rules from your recorded history, typical service intervals and mileage patterns. They are informational estimates only. They are not a mechanical diagnosis, a roadworthiness certificate, a pre-purchase inspection or a guarantee of condition, and they never add entries to your history on their own.
6. Vehicle Passports and contacting a keeper
When you send a Vehicle Passport, the recipient receives a free preview and can pay to unlock the full passport as a PDF. You pay nothing. You are told when a passport is sent and when it is bought.
- A passport never includes your name, contact details, purchase price, V5C or original document files.
- A vehicle only appears in public registration search if you switch on public listing for it.
- If you allow contact, buyers can message you through the DRIV3 email relay. Neither party's email address is shown to the other.
7. Payments
All prices shown include VAT, and you are charged exactly the price shown. Payments are handled by Stripe.
- PLAN is billed monthly or yearly until cancelled. Cancelling stops renewal at the end of the current period.
- Vehicle Passports are one-off purchases of digital content that is delivered immediately. By paying you agree to immediate delivery, and your 14-day right to cancel ends once the passport is delivered.
- If something has gone wrong with a purchase, contact us and we will put it right.
8. One record per registration
A registration can only be active in one garage at a time. If you try to add a registration already held by someone else, you will not be able to take it.
- If a transfer invitation is already waiting for you, you can accept it.
- You can ask us to pass an anonymous message to the current keeper. Neither email address is revealed to the other party.
- You can send proof of keeper status (such as a V5C reference) to our support team, who may reassign the record where keeper status is confirmed.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Enter false or misleading mileage, MOT, keeper or service information, or upload a V5C that is not for the vehicle.
- Claim a vehicle you do not own or lawfully manage, or impersonate another keeper.
- Upload unlawful, abusive or infringing material, or misuse the owner contact relay.
- Attempt to access another user's account, documents or vehicle records.
10. Support access
Our support team can view account and vehicle information, correct records, resolve ownership disputes, issue passports and help with password recovery. Each support action requires a reason and is written to a permanent audit trail.
11. Closing your account
To close your account, contact our support team. Your profile details, V5C and private documents are deleted. Vehicle history entries such as service dates, mileage and work carried out remain attached to the vehicle so its provenance survives for future keepers.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If we make a material change we will tell you and ask you to accept the new version. Each acceptance is recorded with its date and version.
